Durban mass shooting: At least 11 people shot and killed - EWN

Police in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) have revealed that they’ve identified persons of interest following a mass shooting that left 11 people dead and three others wounded in KwaMakhutha, south of Durban.

The 14 victims comprise 13 men and one woman, with police confirming the woman who was killed was pregnant.

The group was inside a house in the Ziko area when at least three gunmen stormed the property and opened fire on Tuesday night.

Police continue to comb the scene for evidence as they hunt those behind the attack.

Police said the 14 victims, 13 men and one woman, were at a party inside a house when at least three gunmen entered and opened fire.

Ten people died at the scene, while an eleventh later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

Police added that some of those targeted were already on their radar for alleged illegal activities.

Investigators are probing possible links to rival gangs or groupings, but said a definitive motive has yet to be established.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli is expected to visit the scene to engage with law enforcement officials, community representatives and affected families.
