DPWH issues show-cause order to Taguig building contractor over CDO violation - GMA Network
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has issued a show-cause order to the contractor of a multi-purpose building in Taguig City for allegedly violating a cease-and-desist order (CDO) linked to illegal reclamation in Laguna de Bay.
According to a DPWH Metro Manila 1st District Engineering Office document obtained by GMA News Online, the contractor, whose name was not disclosed, continued construction despite the CDO issued on August 20.
โPlease be advised that any continued non-compliance with the Cease-and-Desist Order, which remains in effect, may constitute non-compliance with the directives contained in the said Cease-and-Desist Order,โ the September 18 document read.
The contractor was given five days from receipt of the show-cause order to explain why no appropriate administrative, contractual or other action should be taken against it.
โFailure to submit your written explanation within the prescribed period shall be construed as a waiver of your opportunity to submit an explanation, and the DPWH may proceed with the appropriate action based on the available records and evidence, without prejudice to other remedies available under existing laws, rules, regulations, and applicable contract provisions,โ the order read.
The CDO covers the construction of two multi-purpose buildings at the Lakeshore Complex in Barangay Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.โ MCG, GMA News
