Doctor accused of refusing to treat patients, hospital reveals what really happened

A video from a hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Ambah alleged that a doctor had refused to treat patients injured in a motorcycle accident. However, officials later clarified that the patients had already been treated before the clip was recorded.

The incident took place at the Civil Hospital Ambah, where three people injured in a motorcycle accident arrived two days ago along with people accompanying them. Dr Aarti Dandotiya was on duty at the time.

The video circulating on social media showed Dr Aarti getting up from her chair and walking into another room. Posts accompanying the footage claimed that she had refused to treat the injured patients, with the video being presented as evidence of the alleged incident.

An argument had broken out between the doctor and the people accompanying the patients. As some of them began recording the exchange on their mobile phones, Aarti was seen leaving the room rather than continuing the confrontation.

The clip subsequently began circulating with claims that the doctor had failed to provide treatment to the accident victims. However, a clarification from the hospital offered a different account of what had happened.

Ambah Block Medical Officer (BMO) Pramod Sharma said the three injured people had indeed arrived at the hospital two days earlier and had received treatment from Dr Aarti Dandotiya.

Pramod further clarified that the argument between the doctor and the accompanying group took place after the patients had already been treated. He said the video was recorded during the dispute, when the group was filming the doctor on their phones, prompting her to leave the room.

The clarification meant the viral video did not show the patients being denied treatment, despite the claims being made alongside it.

Instead, according to the hospital official, the video captured a disagreement that occurred after the injured individuals had already received medical care.
