The State government has notified the Calicut University (CU) Biodiversity Garden at Tenhipalam in Malappuram district as a ‘Biodiversity Heritage Site’.
According to the gazette notification issued on October 31, the decision was taken in consultation with the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, under Section 37 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. Inaugurated in 1972 by R.E. Holttum, then Director, Singapore Botanical Garden, it features tropical India flora and exotic species.
