Cryptocurrency assets have lost value on Friday after a major attack on the Binance crypto exchange.

Tech giant Google and its owner, Alphabet, lost more than half a trillion US dollars on Thursday night amid worries that AI would subsume its advertising business, the largest one-day fall in the company's history.

But the ASX200 still gained ground on Friday, and it finished the week 1.78 per cent higher.
