The Australian Defence Force has identified the soldier who died in a crash as 28-year-old Corporal Brendan Hannam. Two soldiers remain in hospital following a fatal vehicle rollover at a military training base in the Northern Territory's Top End.
The Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry warns the Coalition's proposed cuts to immigration would hurt Australia's economic growth. Under the proposal, net overseas migration would fall to 100,000 a year for the first two years of a Coalition government, before rising to 160,000 by the fourth.
A climate delegation of more than a dozen leaders, including Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, is visiting the tiny Pacific island nation of Tuvalu. The country is particularly vulnerable to coral bleaching and rising sea levels caused by global warming.
