Congress MLA issues notice to 180 Karnataka teachers over students learning gaps

Congress MLA Pradeep Eshwar has issued notices to 180 government-school teachers in Karnataka after finding several Class 7 students struggling with basic Kannada and mathematics.

The action followed a routine inspection in his constituency. Eshwar said some students were unable to write the Kannada Varnamale, or letters, and Aksharamale. He also found students who could not solve basic addition and subtraction problems.

Describing the situation as shocking, the MLA said he had taken immediate action by issuing notices to the teachers concerned.CLASS 7 STUDENTS STRUGGLE WITH BASICS

Eshwar said the students’ difficulties showed that they had not acquired basic learning skills at the appropriate stage of their education.

He said the notices were issued with the aim of improving learning outcomes among children and ensuring that students develop essential academic abilities.

The MLA acknowledged that the decision might not be supported by some sections of society.

“I understand this might not be a very encouraged step by certain sections of society, but it is definitely a necessary step,” Eshwar said in a social media post.‘FOR OUR NEXT GENERATION’

“This decision of mine is for our next generation and not for the next election,” he said.
