City of Joburg calls on communities to join fight against GBVF - EWN

The City of Johannesburg is calling on communities to join the fight against gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF).

This follows the launch of city’s GBV and Femicide Response Action Plan on Friday, which the city said will reinforce measures already in place.

There's growing concern over the killings of women in the country, including the discovery of 11 women’s bodies in Ekurhuleni on Gauteng's west rand since July.

The action plan also follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recent measures to strengthen the national response to GBVF, including efforts to improve policing, investigations, prosecutions and community safety.
