Abdulmumeen Jimoh retained his Division A title at the Lekki Scrabble Club Classics after emerging tops at the 2026 edition of the tournament in Lagos. Jimoh, who also won the competition last year, claimed the title on Sunday to secure back-to-back victories at the tournament. The victory earned him the trophy and a $1,000 cash prize. Reflecting on his performance, Jimoh said he approached the competition without putting himself under unnecessary pressure. “I played each game as it came. The tournament attracted more than 200 players who competed across different categories, with Division A and B providing competition for the senior players. Frank Ishiekwene emerged winner of Division B, while Abdulsalam Toyyibaht won the Under-12 category. The competition also featured a children’s category as organisers continued efforts to promote the development of Scrabble among young players. The Lekki Scrabble Club Classics has become an important event on the Nigerian Scrabble calendar, providing players with competitive action ahead of major national and international tournaments.
