Celebrations broke out among NDA alliance leaders and workers in Vijayawada following the alliance’s emphatic victory in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation elections.
MP Kesineni Sivanath, East MLA Gadde Ramamohan, NTR district parliamentary constituency in-charge M. Mallikarjuna Rao, BJP NTR district president Gadde Anuradha and others participated in the programme. They felicitated the newly-elected Mayor Vangaveeti Radha Krishna on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sivanath pointed out that people have demonstrated their confidence in the NDA alliance through the election results. Despite the relatively low voter turnout, people had given the alliance such a decisive mandate, he said.
The MP said the victory had placed greater responsibility on the alliance and assured that they would live up to people’s expectations by developing Vijayawada in all sectors.
The MP said the delay in finalising seat-sharing arrangements within the alliance and certain other factors had cost them victory in another three to four divisions.
He said they were always willing to consider constructive suggestions from anyone, including former IPS officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao, if they were beneficial to the people and the party.
Later, Mr. Radha Krishna expressed his gratitude to Jana Sena Party president and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for giving him the opportunity to serve as Mayor and to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for encouraging him. He also thanked the people of Vijayawada for their confidence in him.
They expressed confidence that the city would be transformed into a developed urban centre by prioritising infrastructure, sanitation, drinking water supply, roads and the resolution of public grievances, in line with the hopes and aspirations of Vijayawada residents.
