Buccaneers' Vita Vea 'on the New York Giants' radar' - Giants Wire
The New York Giants continue to explore upgrades along the defensive line ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Vita Vea has surfaced as a name of interest.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler noted that while the Giants have drawn attention for their interest in running backs, the interior of the defensive line may be a higher priority at this stage.
While the Giants have been linked to Taylor and other running backs, defensive tackle might be the spot where they look to add. They inquired multiple times on Jeffery Simmons but were told no by Tennessee. Another player on the Giants' radar is Tampa Bay's Vita Vea. (The Bucs are not expected to move him.)
Fowler added that it would be a mild surprise if New York does not leave the deadline period with some help up front.
The Giants' pursuit of Jeffery Simmons was confirmed by head coach John Harbaugh, who said he reached out to Tennessee ownership as the team turned over every stone. Simmons was ultimately traded to the Chicago Bears. That effort, combined with the interest in Vea, highlights New York's desire to reinforce the middle of its defensive line as it navigates a competitive stretch in the NFC East.
Vea, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, signed an extension with the Buccaneers earlier this year and remains under contract through 2027. Tampa Bay is not expected to move him, limiting the realistic options available.
Still, the Giants' ongoing evaluation of the position shows they remain active in the market for defensive line help with several days left before the deadline.
