The broadcasting rights for Pakistan’s home matches have been sold for Rs350 million, with only bidder state broadcaster emerging as the successful. The reserve price had been set at Rs600 million, while the latest agreement covers 25 matches. According to details, the PCB had issued a tender a few days ago for the broadcasting rights to its home matches, with a reserve price of Rs600 million. PTV, the sole bidder, has now acquired the rights. At present, three major broadcasters have significant outstanding payments owed to the cricket board. Although they were not barred from participating in the bidding process, they chose not to take part. A company that has acquired most of Pakistan cricket’s rights in the past also showed no interest. The national team’s recent poor performances, along with limited public interest in the matches against Ireland and Sri Lanka, were among the reasons for the lack of participation in the bidding process. This time, the PCB also did not allow consortiums to participate. A similar restriction has already been imposed in the Pakistan Super League. The latest agreement includes 25 matches: five Tests, 14 ODIs and six T20Is. Pakistan are scheduled to play three T20Is against Sri Lanka this month, followed by a seven-match triangular ODI series involving England. Two Tests against Sri Lanka are scheduled for next month. In January 2027, Pakistan are scheduled to play three T20Is against Ireland, followed by another seven-match triangular ODI series involving Zimbabwe. In February, Pakistan are due to play a one-off Test against Ireland. In February and March, New Zealand are scheduled to play two Test matches in Pakistan. According to some reports, Zimbabwe have declined to tour Pakistan for commercial reasons, meaning the triangular ODI series may not take place. Similarly, the one-off Test against Ireland may also be cancelled. However, the PCB has yet to officially confirm these developments.
