Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth trades stunt work for studio fixing in new film trailer
Actor Brad Pitt has reprised his Oscar-winning role as Cliff Booth in director David Fincher’s The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, with the trailer for the dark comedy released on September 21, 2026. The upcoming dark comedy is a spin-off to director Quentin Tarantino's 2019 film, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
The film is set to open in IMAX theatres on November 25 before premiering on Netflix on December 23, 2026. Netflix said the film marks the return of Cliff Booth, "only this time it’s 1977 and it’s a very different Hollywood." Set eight years after the events of Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the story follows Booth after he has moved on from stunt work to become a "studio fixer."
The trailer opens with Booth causing chaos at the Beverly Cinema, which has been owned by Tarantino since 2007. It goes on to show mud-wrestling, murder and car chases. In one exchange, actor Elizabeth Debicki’s character asks Booth about his time as Rick Dalton’s stunt double. "You worked with Rick Dalton for a number of years. What brought an end to your engagement?" she asks. Booth replies, "Oh, Rick got too fat for me to double him anymore."
Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is not returning as Hollywood star Rick Dalton, while Timothy Olyphant will reprise his original role as James Stacy. Scott Caan, Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany and JB Tadena play new characters in the sequel.
In an August 2025 interview on The Church of Tarantino podcast, Tarantino explained why he would not return to direct the film. “I love this script, but I’m still walking down the same ground I’ve already walked,” he said, adding “It just kind of unenthused me. This last movie, I’ve got to not know what I’m doing again. I’ve got to be in uncharted territory.”
Tarantino has previously said that his 10th feature film will be his last, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was his ninth.
Tarantino also said he was keen to see how Fincher handles the material. “I think me and David Fincher are the two best directors,” he said.
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is produced by Tarantino alongside Pitt, David Heyman, Cen Chaffin and Stacey Sher.
