The third-grade student who assaulted a six-year-old girl inside a government school in Haryana’s Panchkula used to play aggressive video games, including PUBG, the survivor’s family has claimed. The girl’s uncle, Fazil, said the boy’s father had also confirmed his gaming habits.

The third-grade student who assaulted a six-year-old girl inside a government school in Haryana’s Panchkula used to play aggressive video games, including PUBG, the survivor’s family has claimed. The girl’s uncle, Fazil, said the boy’s father had also confirmed his gaming habits.

Speaking about the incident, Fazil said the boy’s interest in violent games had come to light after the assault.

"The child (who committed the attack), it turns out he plays certain types of games, aggressive games. He played PUBG and now his father has also confirmed that he used to play PUBG and other such games, which led to these actions," Fazil said.

Recounting how the incident unfolded, Fazil said the boy first called the girl "crazy". When she objected and threatened to report him for using the word, he told her that her father was upstairs and asked her to accompany him to the room where the incident took place.

The six-year-old is now recovering and has been under close medical supervision. Fazil said her condition had improved over the past few days, with doctors keeping a close watch on her health.

"She is doing better than before... For the past two or three days, she has been receiving excellent care. The doctors are monitoring her very closely; everything is being handled well," he said.

Fazil also said that two FIRs had been registered in connection with the incident.

"The FIR has been filed against the school and another one was filed against the child," he said.

The incident came to light after the six-year-old was assaulted with bricks by a third-grade student inside the premises of a government school in Panchkula earlier this week.

The assault continued even after the girl lost consciousness. The boy then dragged her around the school premises by her hair.

The survivor’s family has also raised questions over the school's security arrangements, claiming that the accused boy himself led them to the girl, who was injured and unconscious.

The family questioned how the assault went unnoticed despite CCTV cameras being monitored from the principal's office.

Meanwhile, the Haryana Education Department has suspended two Junior Basic Training (JBT) teachers, Simranjeet Kaur and Pooja Rani, with immediate effect in connection with the incident.

The Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (HSCPCR) has also taken suo motu cognisance of the matter. It has directed the District Education Officer, Panchkula, to submit a comprehensive, point-wise factual report detailing the action taken by the Education Department.- EndsWith inputs from Umang Sheoran
