Phanom Dong Rak District Office A "Secure Border Housing" pilot project for injured soldiers and vulnerable communities is set to launch in five border provinces, the government says.

A deputy spokeswoman said the social development and defence ministries have developed an integrated border security plan covering 2027–2031.

The pilot phase will cover 21 communities in Sa Kaeo, Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Buri Ram and Si Sa Ket.

Under the scheme, security agency land will be allocated and developed into housing communities, she said.

The Community Organisations Development Institute will help with planning, while the military will assist in construction and infrastructure development.

In total, the government wants to strengthen 752 border communities across 26 provinces to support veterans, border patrol personnel and low-income families through home improvements and vocational assistance, she said.

Injured soldiers will receive housing, alongside rehabilitation, psychological support and retraining.

A joint working committee will finalise budgets and pilot locations before submitting the plan for cabinet approval.
