AR Rahman may have conquered concert stages around the world, but Bengaluru traffic had a different plan for him. After his concert in the city, the Oscar-winning composer was spotted sitting in traffic, smiling and waving at fans who recognised him from their vehicles.

A video shared on Instagram by Bengaluru-based entrepreneur Ashwini shows Rahman making his way through the city after his concert on October 3. As vehicles crawled along the congested road, fans noticed the singer-composer sitting inside his car.

Rahman, however, did not seem too bothered by the unexpected roadside fan meet. As people recognised him, he smiled and waved at them through the car window, turning an otherwise frustrating traffic jam into a rather memorable moment for those nearby.

Even with security accompanying him, Rahman appeared to have little choice but to sit patiently in the traffic as vehicles moved slowly along the road. Another biker, Manoj, also spotted the composer in the traffic and shared his sighting online.

Social media users had plenty to say about Rahman’s traffic encounter, with several pointing out that Bengaluru traffic clearly does not discriminate based on fame or status.

“Bengaluru traffic spares no one,” one user wrote.

The sight of one of India’s most celebrated musicians sitting in a traffic jam like any other commuter also amused users, turning a routine post-concert journey into an unexpectedly entertaining moment.
