Bail outcome for CPUT student facing attempted murder charge due - EWN

A Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) student who faces an attempted murder charge is expected to be back at the Bellville Magistrates Court on Monday for a bail decision.

Katlego Kgaswane was arrested earlier this month after allegedly stabbing another student at a South Point residence, where they both live.

The accused allegedly entered the first-year student’s room and hid under her bed before attacking her at around 2am.

The 21-year-old, appearing in the dock on Monday, reportedly had a crush on the woman student he is accused of stabbing.

CPUT students and members of the Central SRC have been actively following the case and showing their support for the victim since the court proceedings started.

The students have previously gathered outside the Bellville Magistrates Court, calling for Kgaswane to be denied bail.
