Asian Games: Quarterfinals-bound Filipinas fall to China, finish third in group stage - GMA Network

The Philippine women’s national football team, the Filipinas, fell to China, 5-1, to wrap up their group stage campaign on Monday at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

With the loss, the Philippines finished third in the group with a 1-1-1 record, while Uzbekistan placed second at 1-2-0 after defeating Hong Kong, 2-1.

Still, the Philippines finished among the best third-place teams to secure a spot in the knockout round.

Wang Yanwen completed a hat trick for China, scoring twice in the first half to give her side a 2-0 lead at halftime.

She completed her hat trick in the 54th minute, five minutes after Chen Qiaozhu scored to put China ahead, 4-0.

Skye Leach scored the Philippines’ lone goal in the 65th minute, but Yuan Cong added another for China in the second minute of stoppage time to seal the victory.

The Philippines now awaits the top team from either Group E or Group F in the quarterfinals.
