APSPDCL first discom in Andhra to cross one lakh rooftop solar connections, all for SC and ST homes

Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) has become the first among the power distribution companies in the State to reach one lakh rooftop solar connections.

Under the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model, the company has connected one lakh rooftop systems of SC and ST families to the grid, which together have a capacity of 210 MW.

APSPDCL has also emerged as a front runner among the power distribution companies at the national level under the ULA model, giving Andhra Pradesh the fourth place among the States in terms of installation of solar systems.

“Under the ambitious PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana that aimed to connect one crore connections from across the country to the grid, the Southern Discom intends to install 2.07 lakh SC and ST consumers, involving a total capacity of 415 MW, across the districts of Tirupati, Nellore, Chittoor, Annamayya, Kadapa, Kurnool, Sri Sathya Sai, Anantapur and Nandyal under our purview,” said Siva Sankar Lotheti, Chairman and Managing Director of APSPDCL.

He said the company aimed to provide clean energy to every eligible SC and ST family.
