Alex Eala's World Ranking in 2026: Updated week-by-week ranking before Singapore Open - GMA Network

After a breakthrough year last season, Filipino tennis star Alexandra “Alex” Eala continues to reach new milestones in her career in 2026.

Eala broke into the Top 20 of the WTA rankings for the first time last August and has since maintained her position at No. 18 through the US Open earlier this month. She next competes in the Singapore Open, where she has a chance to earn some points, before she faces a crucial stretch where she represents the Philippines in the Asian Games, skipping the overlapping China Open, which could come with some penalties.

According to the WTA, "A player's ranking is determined by results at a maximum of 18 tournaments for singles and 12 for doubles. Points are awarded based on the level of tournament and a player's round-by-round progression at that tournament."

SeptemberAlex had a solid campaign in the US Open, the final Grand Slam event of the season, where she picked up wins over Mary Stoiana in the first round, and Oleksandra Oliynykova in the second round, to set up a matchup against good friend Iva Jovic. Unfortunately for Eala, who was seeking a first career win over Jovic in the third round, she fell 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 to close her campaign. Up next for her is the Singapore Open.

AugustEala made history by becoming the first Filipina to win a WTA Tour title after ruling the WTA 500 Mubadala DC Open in Washington DC. She hurdled a difficult draw that included wins over Olympic gold medalist Zheng Qinwen, defending champion Leylah Fernandez, World No. 10 Elina Svitolina, four-time Grand Slam champ Naomi Osaka en route to a rain-delayed final against World No. 3 Jessica Pegula, who she beat 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 to win her first title. Following that, she also finished in the Round of 16 of the Canadian Open and the Round of 32 in the Cincinnati Open, both WTA 1000 tournaments, heading into the US Open.

JulyAlex stormed up the rankings to a then career-high 28 after a terrific performance in Wimbledon, where she picked up wins over Renata Zarazua, Maya Joint, and defending champion Iga Swiatek to reach the fourth round, where she fell short against 13th seed Jasmine Paolini. It was another historic performance for the Filipina and her best showing in a Grand Slam to date.

JuneThe start of the grass-court swing came with a huge boost for Eala, who won her second WTA 125 title after ruling the Birmingham Open. She reached the Round of 16 of the HSBC Championships before making another strong run in the Berlin Tennis Open, where she defeated two top 10 opponents en route to a semifinal appearance. Her performance allowed her to move back into the Top 30 ahead of the Wimbledon Championships.

MayIn May, Alex's struggles on clay continued, starting with a valiant effort in the Italian Open Round of 32 against World No. 2 Elena Rybakina. She also competed in the first round of the French Open, but made an early exit after falling short against Iva Jovic.

AprilEala began her clay-court swing in April, which saw her struggle to advance deep into tournaments. She exited Austria's Linz Open with a loss to Jelena Ostapenko in the Round of 16, before bowing out in the Round of 32 of the Stuttgart Open opposite Leylah Fernandez. She closed out the month with a Round of 64 loss in the Madrid Open.

MarchEala entered March 2026 at No. 32, more than 100 places above where she was this time last year at No. 140. She set a career-high ranking of #29 in March 16 following a Round of 16 appearance in the Indian Wells Open. She followed that with another run to the Round of 16 in the Miami Open, but her ranking fell to 45th after the expiry of points from her breakout performance in Miami in 2025, where she reached the semifinals.

FebruaryIn February, Eala took a step up in competition during her Middle East swing. Beginning with the Abu Dhabi Open, a WTA 500 tournament, Eala stormed into the quarterfinal round, where she lost to No. 11 Ekaterina Alexandrova. She stumbled early in a Round of 64 exit in her next competition, the WTA 1000 Qatar Open. But the Filipina made noise in the Dubai Tennis Championship, another WTA 1000, where she notched three wins, including one over Top 10 player Jasmine Paolini, before eventually falling to World No. 4 Coco Gauff in the quarterfinals.

JanuaryIn the first month of the year, Alex climbed to a new career high of 49 (at the time) as she made a strong semifinals run in the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, a WTA 250. Though she made an early first round exit in the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open, Eala bounced back with a quarterfinals appearance in her newly-minted home tournament, the WTA 125 Philippine Women’s Open.
