Adnan Siddiqui gets candid about his 'blunt nature', says he has no regrets about who he is

Veteran actor Adnan Siddiqui got refreshingly candid during the 26th-anniversary special of Good Morning Pakistan, opening up about his personality, his role as a mentor on Tamasha Ghar and the changing dynamics of Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Asked whether there was anything he would change about himself, Siddiqui made it clear that self-acceptance had long been his guiding principle. “I am blunt. I am here. Take it or leave it,” he said, adding that he saw no reason to alter a personality he had built with a sense of responsibility and, as he put it, no regrets. That same philosophy informed his approach to mentoring younger talent on Tamasha Ghar, where he had adopted what he described as a teacher-like persona. For Siddiqui, credibility had to come before counsel. “Practice what you preach,” he said. “I only offer advice which I am willing to apply to my own life first.” His views on competition were similarly rooted in personal growth rather than comparison. Siddiqui rejected the idea that his contemporaries were engaged in a cutthroat “race”, arguing instead that talent was individual and that aspiring actors should focus on improving themselves rather than trying to push others aside. “You should strive to be the best, not push anybody off, not in a cunning way,” he said. That philosophy did not mean he was unaware of how much more crowded the entertainment landscape had become. he acknowledged that establishing a name today was considerably harder than it had been for his generation, with the sheer volume of talent and the growing number of channels making it more difficult for newcomers to stand out. The conversation also turned to Gen Z’s growing presence in showbiz. Siddiqui pointed to young actors such as Aashir Wajahat and Samar Jafri as examples of the new generation’s versatility, highlighting their ability to move between acting and singing. Fellow guest Aina Asif offered a different perspective, noting that while earlier generations had earned recognition largely through hard work and craft, visibility could come much more easily in the current media landscape. Siddiqui also explained why he had largely stepped back from interviews and podcasts. He said he had grown wary of hosts asking questions designed to provoke controversy, only for resulting clips to be taken out of context. “I choose silence. It has become my way of avoiding being misunderstood,” he added.
