Adeola pledges better welfare, training centres for Ogun teachers
The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Olamilekan Adeola, has pledged to improve the welfare and working conditions of teachers in the state as he marked the 2026 World Teachers’ Day.
Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, commended teachers across Ogun for their contribution to educating young people and developing the state’s human capital.
In a message to mark the annual observance, he said teachers remained central to the development of the state and deserved greater attention to their welfare, professional development and working conditions.
Adeola said, if elected, his administration would support measures aimed at improving teachers’ welfare and creating a more conducive environment for teaching.
He also pledged to establish teacher training centres in each of Ogun’s three senatorial districts, saying the centres would help teachers update their skills and improve their professional capacity.
“Teachers play a critical role in shaping the future of our children and, by extension, the future of Ogun State,” Adeola said.
“Their commitment, patience and dedication deserve recognition and support. “As a government, we will improve teacher welfare by reviewing salaries, providing better working conditions and ensuring timely payment.”
Adeola said strengthening the teaching profession would contribute to improved learning outcomes and a more effective education system in the state.
He added that his administration would prioritise opportunities for teachers’ professional growth, reiterating his commitment to better welfare and improved working conditions.
World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on 5 October to recognise the contribution of teachers to education and society.
