In an initiative aimed at transforming school students into ‘champions of sustainability’, AP-Genco MD and State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) CEO S. Nagalakshmi announced the launch of a State-level Short Video Competition 2026.
An official release said the event is designed to capture the imagination of youth ahead of the annual National Energy Conservation Week from December 14 to 20.
The competition is open for students from Classes 7 to 10 in all government, aided and private schools. The videos (in Telugu, English, or Hindi) have to be of 30 seconds to 2 minutes duration.
Both individuals and groups of up to 10 members can take part in it. The themes for the contest are: “Smart Energy Choices” (BEE star-rated appliances), “Energy Independence” (with a focus on electric mobility), “Cook Smart” (clean cooking technologies), “Future Energy Technologies” (smart grids and AI), and “Innovate for Tomorrow” (emphasis on school energy audits, smart farming, and green hydrogen).
Ms. Nagalakshmi appealed to school heads, teachers, and parents to encourage wide participation and said that official communications have already been sent to the Commissioner of School Education and the District Educational Officers (DEOs).
The SECM instituted attractive incentives, including a first prize of Rs. 30,000, a second prize of Rs. 18,000, and a third prize of Rs. 12,000, along with 10 consolation awards of Rs. 5,000 each, mementos, and certificates.
School authorities or parents can upload student entries through the portal https://www.apsecm.ap.gov.in/seca.html before December 3, 2026.
Further details can be obtained by contacting SECM at seca.apsecm@gmail.com or by calling the phone number 0866-2457620.
