678 cases of ticketless travel detected in trains

A special ticket-checking drive across Southern Railway Thiruvananthapuram Division on September 21 and 22, conducted jointly by division squads based at Nagercoil, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Ernakulam, detected 678 cases of ticketless travel.

In the raid conducted from 4 p.m. on September 21 to 8 a.m. on September 22, the Ernakulam Squad detected 285 cases, followed by 138 cases by the Kollam ticket checking squad, 225 cases by the Thiruvananthapuram squad, and 30 cases by the Nagercoil squad. A total penalty of ₹5,08,005 was imposed on the offenders.

According to railway authorities, systematic checks were carried out in both reserved and unreserved coaches, covering multiple key sections and trains. Railway Protection Force and General Railway Police personnel also coordinated with the checking squad teams. Special drives are conducted to detect and prevent ticketless travel and ensure hassle-free journey for passengers travelling with valid tickets.
