The 55 Signals Brigade, under the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, has honoured three Master Warrant Officers (MWOs) retiring after more than three decades of dedicated military service.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Clement Omozokpia Iyere, hosted the send-forth ceremony at the Headquarters of 55 Signals Brigade, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The event was organised to recognise the retireesβ contributions, sacrifices and commitment to the Nigerian Army and the nation for 35 years.
In his remarks, Iyere commended the retiring officers for their dedication and loyalty to the Brigade and the Nigerian Army, saying their service had contributed to the security environment that allowed Nigerians to live and go about their daily activities freely.
He described the send-forth as the Brigadeβs way of appreciating their meritorious service and urged the retirees to be prudent as they transition into civilian life.
The Commander reminded them that, despite leaving active service, they remained members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and should continue to uphold exemplary conduct.
He urged them to remain law-abiding and resolve disputes through constituted authorities and lawful channels of redress.
The retirees were MWO Rabiu Ibironke, Chief Clerk, Headquarters 55 Signals Brigade; MWO Bello Wasiu; and MWO Stephen Andrew, Regimental Sergeant Major, 35 Artillery Brigade Signals.
Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Ibironke expressed appreciation to the Brigade Commander for his leadership and support throughout their service.
She particularly commended him for the infrastructural improvements at the Brigade headquarters, which she said had enhanced the appearance and ambience of the offices.
Ibironke also thanked the Commander for the opportunity to serve as Chief Clerk of the Brigade and for the encouragement she received during her career.
The ceremony featured the presentation of souvenirs to the retiring officers.
