401 arrested by Dhaka police, 26 cases filed

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested 401 people in regular raids during the last 24 hours in the capital. During this period, 26 cases have been filed on various charges.

Md Akhtar Hossain, deputy police commissioner of the DMP's Media and Public Relations Wing, presented the figures in a media statement on Wednesday.

He said that 24 arrestees were taken into custody by the Ramna Division, 34 in Lalbagh, 51 in Wari, 68 in Motijheel, 74 in Tejgaon, 71 in Mirpur, 36 in Gulshan, 42 in Uttara and one by the Intelligence Division.

A sword, a machete, a makeshift weapon, an iron rod, 95 yaba pills, 70 grams of heroin, 668g of marijuana and a car were seized in the operation, said Akhtar.

The DMP official said the raids were conducted in different parts of the capital and evidence, including narcotics, were recovered alongside the arrests.
