11 injured after school van catches fire in Murree
ISLAMABAD: At least 11 people were injured after a school van veered off the road and caught fire in Murree on Tuesday, police said.
According to Rescue 1122, the incident occurred near Bara Hotar Link Road in Murree.
According to preliminary information provided by Rescue 1122, the Suzuki Bolan veered off the road and caught fire, prompting rescue teams to rush to the site.
The statement said the passengers, mostly schoolchildren, were safely evacuated from the vehicle and sustained only minor injuries. However, the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Of the 11 passengers, aged between four and 14, nine suffered burn injuries of varying degrees, while two escaped unhurt.
Earlier this year, eight students were injured when a school van caught fire while moving along Karachiβs Shah Faisal Colony flyover. In February, a schoolgirl was killed, and six others were injured when their van was hit by a dumper in Okara.
In March, two teenage sisters in Karachi died after suffering burn wounds when a fire erupted in their family van.
