10-day-old body found hanging from tree in UP's Bijnor, police seek his identity

A man's body was found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, with a preliminary assessment suggesting that it was around 10 days old and in a state of decomposition, police said.

The incident came to light after some villagers spotted the body hanging from a tree. Other villagers soon gathered at the spot and informed the police.

Police reached the spot, brought down the body and launched a preliminary investigation.

Based on the condition of the body, police said it appeared to be around 10 days old.

However, the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding his death have not yet been established.

Police are gathering information from nearby villages and other areas in an attempt to identify the man. The body has been taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem examination.

The post-mortem report is expected to provide further clarity on the cause of death.

Last week, in a separate incident, the body of a woman with burn marks and suspected to have been strangled was found in a sugarcane field in Bijnor. A two-year-old girl was found crying beside it, according to police.

A dupatta was tied around the 25-year-old woman's neck, leading police to suspect that she was strangled. Burn marks were also found on her body.
